We have a range of practical workshops on offer this year; giving visitors the opportunity to draw with and learn from professional cartoonists. Tickets for workshops can be purchased in advance through the relevant links below.

Zoom Rockman is the youngest cartoonist in the Beano’s history; he began aged 12!  Join him in this strip cartoon workshop to learn how to draw his ’Skanky Pigeon’ character, what’s involved in putting a cartoon together and then drawing one of your very own!

The purpose of this workshop is to inspire young budding cartoonists.
Materials will be provided.
Tickets – £6 all participants, non-participating accompanying adults/guardians free. All children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Tickets include admission to the Museum & Art Gallery.

Bringing Animals to Life Workshop *SOLD OUT*

Learn how to draw animal cartoons with caricaturist & Radio Times illustrator Jonathan Cusick. You’ll be shown a variety of key concepts and approaches, then get to apply these in a drawing session interpreting exhibits from the museum’s archive. A variety of family-friendly subjects will be there to inspire, from owls to squirrels.  Individual advice and encouragement will be given as you draw.  This workshop aims to improve your cartoons and equip you with a confident and enthusiastic approach to drawing.
Materials will be provided- or bring your favourites.

Explore the wonderful world of cartoon drawing with cartoonist and ‘Fintan Fedora’ author Clive Goddard. A workshop showing you how to draw cartoons that live; humans and animals, in different emotions, male and female. You name it! If there’s something you’ve wanted to draw but don’t know where to start, this is for you; Clive will take requests and show you how to get drawing.

The workshop will end with a comic strip story written and drawn collectively. Suitable for cartoonists of any age.
Materials will be provided.
