Shrewsbury Cartoon Festival returns for 2020!

Who’s ready for some cartoons?
We are pleased to announce that Shrewsbury Cartoon Festival makes a return of sorts for 2020!

Our originally planned exhibition at the Bear Steps Gallery will now be held in October from the 19th-31st, open from 10am-4pm each day.  ‘No-one Saw it Coming’  will show cartoons on our original 2020 theme of ‘Vision’, augmented by our Cartoonists’ take on the unprecedented events of the year. Life in lockdown, coronavirus, the great toilet roll hoard… dare we mention the horrors of home schooling?

Mayor of Shrewsbury Philip Gillam runs through the delights on offer in this video welcome… we hope you can come and join us for a socially distanced smile.

Plans are underway for a hopefully more usual Cartoon Festival in 2021..

Enquiries to: shrewsburycartoonfestival@gmail.com or via our social media.

  1. It´s such a shame I´m now living in Argentina, so I would have to swim through the Atlantic to get to Shrewsbury, the nice city where pubs close at 11pm!! Anyway, I miss you, dears!!

Well even as we mop up the gravy from 2017 & our travelling fast drawn food & ink kiosk we gird our aprons for the year ahead.
2018’s events will mark our 15th year of this wholesome silliness.
Themes are yet to be decided.
    Cartoonists are reserving the date:
    April 21st 2018

      Hello Raph,
Announcement of the full schedule is imminent! We have a number of workshops (caricature, action cartoons, animation, and paper aeroplanes), a cartoonists panel discussion on Friday the 20th, as well as the regular favourites (big boards, live caricatures, etc) on the Saturday.
We hope to see you there!

      Hi dear colleagues,

here I send you some cartoons about animals, as you asked me if I could collaborate with some works. It would be fine if you tell me, you have well received the mail and the cartoons.

Hope you enjoy the festival, it was very nice some years ago!!!

      Best regards,

Work with cartoonist Graham Higgins to create a Catalonian-style comic strip with verses from Michael Rosen’s poem about the real Robin Hood who hailed from Shropshire’s Whittington Castle.
