Cartoon exhibitions

For 2019, we have two exhibitions featuring cartoons on the theme of ‘animals’, with work from UK and overseas cartoonists.

‘Drawn to be Wild’
is on show at the Bear Steps Gallery in St Alkmund’s Square from the 9th to the 27th of April 2019. Entry is free and it’s open daily from 10am-4pm.
For the first time this year we’ve published a book to accompany the exhibition. Taking the same title as the exhibition, it features a broad selection of the works on show and is available to buy at a discount during the festival. For completists there will is also a transport themed book with work from last year’s exhibition! Why not collect the set!? Cartoonists here for the festival would be happy to sign your copy if you come along on the 27th.

‘The Lizards of Oz and other creatures’ is our exhibition at the Manby Bowdler Gallery and theatre bar in Theatre Severn, which features Australian cartoonists’ take on this year’s animal theme. The exhibition runs from the 1st April until the 5th of May 2019, with free entry from 11am. Sunday opening times vary.
Accompanying the work from our antipodean colleagues will be work by art and photography students from Shrewsbury College Group.

‘Animals in the Parade’ is our different take on an Easter Bunny Hunt, throughout April in The Parade Shopping Centre. Find festival mascot Barry the Shrew amongst others. Details in The Parade.
