Following on from last year’s successful festival talk, Private Eye cartoonist Tony Husband returns to Shrewsbury Cartoon Festival in 2017 to speak about his latest book written with his son Paul.
‘From a Dark Place; How a family coped with Drug Addiction’ is a 50 page graphic novel chronicling Paul’s struggles with heroin and subsequent recovery thanks to the charity Red Rose Recovery.
Tony shows an inspiring story of recovery; how a chance meeting at a party ultimately enabled Paul to regain control of his life. Happily he is now a professional photographer with a family. As with his previous book ‘Take Care, Son’, Tony’s drawings touchingly describe real life events in a way other mediums can’t; the drawings may be simple but they say more.
The talk starts at 8pm at the Unitarian Church on Friday the 21st April 2017.
Tickets are £10 and available from Pengwern books, Fish St, Shrewsbury.
Copies of the book will be for sale.
